Ben Slotover, Benjamin Rowlinson – SLIDES
03:20 min, 2023, super 8, United Kingdom

Slides are bleached, burned, cut, drawn and quartered in this Super 8 ode to a fading format.

Brandon Scullion - Haunted Cursed Anxious Hateful
04:25 min, 2024, 8 mm, United States

Two men, haunted by the realities of their lives, confined by their bodies and surroundings, engage in a hateful battle of wills with dreadful consequences.
Shot entirely on 8mm film.

Elham Hadian - THE BODY REMEMBERS
05:22 min, 2024, super 8 analog to digital, Austria/Iran

The ancient act of stoning is a form of capital punishment where a group throws stones at a person until they die. Stoning has been recorded in ancient civilizations, including those in the Middle East, South Asia, and the Mediterranean. While stoning is officially part of the legal system in a few countries, its actual implementation is rare and often subject to significant international and domestic controversy.
Women are still disproportionately affected by stoning in some countries, particularly in cases of adultery, where evidence requirements and social standards often disadvantage women.
Human rights organisations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have campaigned against stoning, calling it a form of torture. The United Nations has also condemned the practice, advocating for its abolition.
In many countries, there is strong public opposition to stoning. Activists and reformers within these countries work hard to change the laws and practices that allow such punishments. Efforts include raising awareness, legal challenges, and pushing for legislative reforms.

Ella Morton – WANDERER
11:32 mim, 2024, 16 mm, Canada

Wanderer (2024) is a music video for Linda Catlin Smith's contemporary music piece of the same name. Performed by the Thin Edge New Music Collective in Toronto and filmed on location in the Faroe Islands. Monochromatic scenes from the striking Faroese landscape are captured on 16mm film and altered with mordançage, melding with the haunting soundscape.

Gabriele Rossi – STREAMS
03:24 min, 2024, Super 8, France

The swimming bodies gradually drift towards abstraction.
As the currents flow, their strength is revealed: it's by letting ourselves be carried away that we can overcome the resistance of the filmic material and resurface.
Streams is an ode to fluidity in these dark times.

Gareth Byrne – SUAS
04:23 min, 2024, 16mm, Krasnogorsk-3, Tri-X, Ireland

SUAS is an accompanying music film which was produced at Ballyglass House Tipperary while on residency with Tipperary Dance Platform. The film is a collaboration between filmmaker and performer & leans into the limitations of the camera itself. In doing so combines destructive double exposure techniques and repetitive motifs to create a whole new performance for the camera. It is filmed solely on a clockwork 16mm camera with only two rolls of Kodak Tri-X reversal film.

Guillaume Anglard – DECADENTIA
09:35 min, 2024, Super 8, France

Like an archive, DECADENTIA reveals, in a post-apocalyptic atmosphere, the vestiges of an unknown civilization.

Irina Tempea – IN MY HEAD
06:15 min, 2024, Super 8, 16mm, Canada

In My Head is an experimental first-person short film. It deals with the multiple sclerosis that has affected the filmmaker for over eight years: "Through my magnetic resonance images, my cervical slices and jerky sounds, everyday life unfolds. Life goes on. I'm fine, I'm not so fine." Today, this sprawling disease is the subject of a film that aims to get closer to the people who suffer from it. It aims to portray them through a lens that is close to their reality. This film-diary is part mourning, part sweetness.

Fionnuala McCormack - CÁ NDEACHAIGH MÉ? WHERE AM I GOING?
05:42 min, 2023, 16 mm, United Kingdom

“Cá ndeachaigh mé?" is a 16mm experimental film that delves into how emigration can transform our sense of self, sometimes requiring us to leave not only our home geographically but also linguistically. The film follows a young couple's emotional journey from the countryside of Donegal to Glasgow, as they navigate new cultural landscapes.
Through a dynamic and poignant soundscape, the film highlights the challenges that come with moving and acclimatising to a new place, and how this often can lead to a morphing of both identity and relationships.

Manuel Francescon, Michael Sommermeyer – DER PLOT
04:40 min, 2024, Super 8, Germany

A group of filmmakers have finally managed to find a date to plan a joint project. But the plot, the right storyline, is still missing. The decision is not easy, because everyone has their own idea of what a good film should look like.

Nicole Blundell – GEOMÉTRIKA
04:00 min, 2024, 16 mm, Canada

Geométrika is a mathematical odyssey that invites viewers on an experimental journey through the geometric wonders of the universe, reminiscent of watching floaters under your eyelids. Shot on 16mm, hand painted and developed. Music composed by Kevin Blundell.

Xenia Nitschke - THE JACOBS WAY
01:17 min, 2024, Super 8, Deutschland
