What did children's cinema look like in the past? This special film program shows selected animated films from the archives of the German Institute for Animated Film (DIAF). The films date from a time when cinema was still shot on analog film and tell imaginative, easy-to-understand stories.

The Story of the Fisherman and His Wife, Werner Krauße, GDR 1975, animated puppet film, 14 min.
A fisherman catches a talking fish that asks to be thrown back into the water. The fisherman grants the flounder its freedom, and in return, the fish offers to grant him a wish. The modest fisherman asks for a small boat, which he receives. When Ilsebill, the fisherman's wife, hears about the miracle, she also wants her wishes to be granted. However, her demands become greater and more presumptuous each time...
