Prague-based experimental filmmaker Jan Kulka demonstrates how his custom-built live-cinema apparatus works. Archeoscope has four independent light sources and optical systems that enable it to project four different areas of a film strip at once. It also manages regular and irregular film formats and even non-filmic materials. In his performances, Kulka aims to examine the essential aspects of film as a luminous phenomenon and expands not only the possibilities of film as a material medium but also the act of projection itself.
