AN ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE SELF THROUGH SECOND-HAND IMAGES
A workshop on the appropriation of found family films in found footage and archival film art practices
- In today's world flooded with self-produced images, people are becoming their own ethnographers. Family films are at the origin of such self-vision. Through ritualised repetitive viewing we will question the ontology of the image itself. We will work with found private super 8 film material and learn to observe, reinterpret and edit it through various tasks. The aim is to develop a collective film which will be presented afterwards.
