This semi-documentary feature-length film illustrates Mikesch's deeply humane "plea for the possibilities of individual self-realisation" beyond all obstacles and barriers. It tells the story of everyday life in a home for the elderly, of people who otherwise receive little attention from the outside world. A young couple has taken over the care and despite some mistakes they manage their task with a lot of cordiality and wit. Melancholy has its place in this film as well as clear moments of strength and joy of life.
