COLOGNE-KUBA - INSIGHTS INTO THE ISLAND COUNTRY Friday 16 October 2020 7 pm, Motorenhalle

guest: Rita Schwarze (GER); curation and moderation: Jan Nordsieck

For over 20 years German film students from Cologne have been travelling to Cuba and Cuban students to Cologne. Together they work on documentary as well as very personal topics and allow insights into Cuban life. We will present four works from this project. In the beginning, Ulrike Molsen presents a very personal view of male-female relationships with her free narrative "Engel". Marina Zolke and Simon(e) Paetau visualise racist resentments in Cuba with "Nubia". With "Mila Caos" they show the way homosexuality is dealt with. The latest work of the programme is "Onironauta". Valerie-Malin Schmid uses impressive pictures to tell us about the poet Omar, eternal transience and the fear of a person to be invisible for others.
