Home cinema – Amateur film programme Saturday 24th of January 17.00
The small format camera was over the decades a faithful company of a lot of enthusiastic film amateurs. Apart from occasional documentation of home and family, births, christenings or weddings arose animation films, short films, documentaries and travel documentaries – a lot of these only for the family audience, some for the film club and today often forgotten. Twisting the view on social circumstances, habitual life, media consumption and on the periphery also the city and regional development from the immediate own perspective was virtually non existing.
The dresdner schmalfilmtage would like to open this “private archive”. Starting 2009 an own programme block of the most interesting works will be regularly dedicated to these in oblivion fallen pieces of film history.
