Live Setting Competition Friday January 22, 9 p.m.
Welcome to the hades of the S8-sale film. Vampires, monsters, larger than life spiders and flying saucers meet a jump-cut aesthetics, compared to Godard, Scorsese and Co. who look like geriatric assistants. To sheer the heart of a real classic in ten film minutes, that’s not easy to wangle. But keep attention: in this programme you have to fasten really all trash-belts at the same time.
The dresdner schmalfilmtage have asked musicians and sound artists who are fishing for compliments in order to reanimate these “not dead“ of a former very vital commercialised hell: Caroline Schulz and colleagues, Vokalimprovisations-Ensemble Dresden (Gläser/Gröschel/Ponicil/Steinbrenner/ Vedres), Matthias Jackisch, -Landüber- Benni Gerlach/Karl Helbig, Tobias Herzz-Hallbauer, Nikolaus Wörnle, Balog. Never mind the Soundtrack here comes Survival of the fittest. A jury has got the honour to elect the hardiest, most succesful maybe loopy new interpretation.
