Over the years, the dresdner schmalfilmtage have made some experiments, as well. The Live Setting Competition was one of those experiments and it met with much applause. Created out of the requirement to give various amateur- and found films a stage, it became a constant part in every schmalfilm festival. Regional musicians, composers and sound-artists create new soundtracks – live, without any safety net.
The 13. dresdner schmalfilmtage want again to inspire a crossover between musicians, performers and sound artists and try to encourage them, to prove themselves with the old material from flea markets or garrets.
