Films and music by the folk art collective AG Geige (1987-1992)
Ingenious dilletantes, flamboyant electro pop performance group, art rock band from the Erzgebirge – there are countless labels, the legends are nearly unexhaustible that exist about the quartet AG Geige (AG is for the notoriously-obligatory school work group), founded in Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1986. Dadaistic wittiness, experimental electro sounds, playful avant-garde film stage compositions – notions like these could discribe the image-sound-concept art project AG Geige, that unexpectedly pulled the plug at the height of its success 22 years ago. What exactly is it with the complicated, ingenious poetry of Jan Kummer about kitchens, cosmonauts and propulsion units? Which sources does the flamboyant imagery of their self produced super 8 music films feed on? The ex-singer Jan Kummer will give answers to these questions in his own way and present his highlights of 8 years of AG GEIGE.
Afterwards: DVD release party AG Geige – an amateur film with music by AG Geige.
