COMMON GROUND VS. BREAKING GROUND: Babylon 2015Saturday, January 24, 7.00 pm

Is substandard film still compatible with globalisation, rebellion and experimental art, more than half a century after the invention of the term 'counter culture'? How do substandard filmmakers network? And is there something like a super 8/ 16 mm celluloid connection between Hamburg –  Kingston – Rio // Berlin – Athens – Cairo? Our guests give answers to these questions by presenting own projects and films.
Guests: Helmut Herbst (short film icon from Hamburg and co-founder of the first German film cooperative), Philipp Hartmann (film globetrotter), LaborBerlin (substandard film networking platform with partners in Paris, Athens and Cairo). Films: e.g. Helmut Herbst: Some Serious Agitation, Germany/Jamaica 1980; and Philipp Hartmann: Von der Notwendigkeit, die Meere zu befahren, Germany/Bolivia/Argentina 2010
