The Saga of the Nibelungen with live music and organSunday 21 January 2018 4.00 pm
The Saga of the Nibelungen on Super 8 Film with live music and organ as well as notes relating to the subject, background and genesis of the film.
After its first steps the film very soon turned towards classical themes which have always had a recognized place in literature, music and visual art. The pieces originating from the era of the silent film occupy an exceptional position, because they stem from an uniquely short period of time in art history, comprising relatively few works. "Siegfried" taken from Fritz Lang's film interpretation of the Nibelungen is used as an example of this phase in the
history of film.
The presentation is hosted by Frank Sperling, includes information about the history of film and is accompanied by René Plath on the organ.
