Opening - CINÉTRACTS, 1968, FThursday, 18 January 2018 6.30 pm

We'll be showing you some of the Cinétracts, the pamphleteering films, most of them just a few minutes long, some of them it turns out made by important directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, but all originally created anonymously. They came about surrounding the May 1968 protests in Paris, and were meant to be like daily newspapers, and to disseminate ongoing information just like pamphlets and to promote the class struggle. To this end they were always shown as supporting films before the main programme. And this is exactly as we shall be showing them during the dresdner schmalfilmtagen (dresden small format film festival).
