Déjà vu - Found Footage Films from Austria Friday 23nd of January 22.30

Experimental film and the audience’s favorite. A film with an unmistakable authors own signature without having rolled even one meter film themselves. Those who can not imagine how this could be possible should not pass this part of the programme.

Schmalfilmtage present five of the most interesting Found-Footage artists from Austria. Starting with the primeval and classic Martin Arnold and his up to date still fascinating “passage á l’acte”, rolling toward the “youngster” Siegfried Fruhauf, whose “Exposed” probes new hypnotic effects of the cinema. Although here as in the other films the basis itself, super8 found footage or short sequences of discarded film stripes, seems neither unimportant nor negligible.

The programme “Déja vu” is a small instigation to the visual use and misuse of the cinematography in its full width – consequently with hopes that the small, neat montage cinema, the mother of the independent film, will last longer.

Lisl Ponger will personally present her film “Déja vu”
