THE DUO MIRIAM GOSSING AND LINA SIECKMANN
They only graduated in 2015 from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and with only three 16mm films they have already made quite a stir. Their graduate film “Ocean Hill Drive” has just recently won the German Short Film Price in the category “Experimental Film”.
Is it possible to talk of an oeuvre or a unique handwriting in such a short time? - Yes, it is. All of the films transport a sense of calm, precision and a touch for atmospheric density. Whether wedding chapels in Nevada or the nightmarish dream of Suburbia: Bit by bit these “claustrophobic narratives” (Phil Collins) are perfectly explored.
The Duo combines documentary and fiction and skilfully penetrates these staged rooms and – very subtly – some surfaces of desire.
Both filmmakers will join us for a Q&A after the screening
