THE FERRARI DINO GIRL, Jan NěmecSunday 22 January 2018 6.00 pm
-> Screening at Thalia Cinema, Görlitzer Str. 6 <-
For the film Jan Němec uses his own
documentary film material excerpts from
"Oratorium for Prague" (16 mm, 1968),
which he created on his own initiative
during the invasion of the
Soviet Army. These four rolls of
exposed film, recounting 16 uncensored minutes
of reality in the CSSR of that time, were
however worthless in the occupied country, for they were made with
the intention of reaching the global public. How this
was achieved at that time is
narrated in the second, acted part.
The situation was bizarre, the
most important actors during
the adventurous safeguarding of
the film material by crossing the closed
Austrian border, were the
"Ferrari Dino Girls" - these being
a beautiful but inaccessible
girl by the name of Jana, and the beloved
Fiat 850 motorcar belonging to the filmmaker.
