Dagie Brundert (GER) »Travelling is darn necessary, says the old Seagull« Thursday 21.00

“When one lives for so long on one then the own balcony occurs to one as a travel boat. One hallucinates an escort dove place, which says to one: “Travelling is darn necessary”.

So I am on the road with a cine camera: in the red snow of Berlin, on the trail of King Minos’ wife Minokafion on Crete, in the black/white forward/backward universe of Ishtar, panting on the ocean shore after the footsteps of my own shadow , leaving the last Bratwurst behind me in front of America…and a lot more.”

The everyday life with all its banal occurrences and bizarre absurdities lies in the focal point since 1987 of the super8 work of Dagie Brundert. The short, now and then animated films of the in Berlin living Dagie catch ones eye with their observation accuracy as well as reflexion and a goal-oriented drifting. 1994 Dagie founds with two of her befriended female filmmakers the collective “FBI – Freie Berliner Ischen” (FBI – Independent Berlin Maids), which organized four years long super8 film nights and sought a direct communication between film, female filmmaker and audience. The happenings in conjunction with new and found films shaped in their authenticity an opposition to cultural industry.
